I firmly believe that I should give my students the best that I can – the best education, the best version of me, and the best resources. Sure, it doesn’t happen every day, all day, but I definitely strive to provide my kiddos the best opportunities possible. I believe I should provide for them an excellent educational, but also spiritually (you know I pray for my babies and their families!) and physically. One way I can provide for my students physically, though the help of Colgate, is to give them FREE TOOTHBRUSHES! I LOVE the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program! This is my third year to receive a class set of goodies for my students…for FREE. All I had to do was sign up and provide a little information about my class. This particular program is for K-1 classrooms. Just look at all the goodies that come with this kit! Each of my students will receive a packet with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and an informational booklet. They will also each receive a fun comic book about dental health. Anytime I can send a book home with my students, I’m one happy teacher. Seriously – I wish I could fill my students’ homes with their own personal library. That’s another topic for another time. Also included in the box is a DVD that corresponds with the comic books. It’s about a 15 minute short video – perfect for a rainy indoor recess day! I LOVE that there is a BIG BOOK version for the classroom to keep! My kiddos f.l.i.p. when they get to use a big book at the library center. Once again – this will be a book that my kiddos get excited to read, which is a definite win for me! There are also several other posters and informational pieces for the teacher to pass out/post. But y’all – its all FREE! All you need to do is sign up. I love that I am able to provide a service for my students they they all need (I mean, when was the last time you changed your toothbrush??) and send home some solid information to keep them healthy. Plus, there is even a free app you can download! It’s almost February – Dental Health Month! Sign up for your FREE KIT by clicking on the picture below! You'll definitely want this box to show up to your room soon! Also, I’ve mentioned before that I have the funniest class in the world. They are also the sweetest. No, I’m not biased at all. It’s just the truth. Today two students and I had the best conversation: Little M: Ms. Jackson, you're the best teacher ever! Little K: No, Ms. Jackson is the second best teacher. Me: What? Who is better than me? Little K: God is the best, you're the second best. Okay, I guess I'll take second place for that answer. Too sweet!

It’s officially the first snow day of the year! Oh, happy day! What makes it even better is the fact that our district let us know yesterday…at 1:30! I’m so thankful that we were able to plan and know ahead of time. It made for a much better night last night, not having to stay glued to the TV to see who was out. You’ve never done that, right? Because they let us know so early, I decided to go ahead and tell my kiddos. No, I didn’t tell them right away. We hadn’t even taken our math test yet – I wasn’t going to get them wild before that! Once we had finished for the day, it was time for recess. We did a little “follow the leader” craft and made some snowflakes. Y’all, they were cracking me up! I could tell most of them had never made one before because they didn’t know what was going on. Their eyes got so big when I told them they could finally open it and they figured out what it was. One student asked, “Ms. Jackson, yours looks better than mine. Can I have it?” Bless him. Then another sweetie said, “They are all different, like all of us!” She’s a keeper, for sure. Once we had our snowflake fun, I asked if they wanted to learn a new game. We played hangman! Granted, in hind sight I should have switched it up and made like a sad face or something that isn’t as graphic, but hey, it happened. Needless to say, they thought it was fun and got into it. It was fun watching their eyes light up as they started figuring out the “secret message”! It was definitely a wise decision to wait and tell them until the last fifteen minutes of the day. Maybe they got a little wild after that. Let’s be real, I was rather giddy myself. I may have whipped and nae nae-ed with them. Here’s to a fantastic snow day! As you can see from “Poose the Moose,” our house has gotten around 3 inches thus far. I don’t expect much more, but I’m sure not complaining. I’ll take a snow day any day.
Did you get a snow day? How did you spend it? Whoo! TPT is having a sale! Now is the time to go through your purchases and leave feedback. You'll earn credit to use during the sale! Stock up your carts now...it's going go quickly!
I started a blog?? What??
Why on God’s green Earth would I start a blog? It’s true – I started out as a lurker. I would “stalk” people’s blogs, Instagram profiles, Periscopes, Twitter accounts, and TPT stores. I have learned SO MUCH from a TON of teachers out there in the real world, doing the daily things that we as teachers are called to do. These teachers have inspired me, let me use their fantastic ideas, created wonderful learning opportunities for the students for me to copy, and encouraged me on those dark days that we all know can and do happen from time to time. I have officially stepped out of the shadows and am making my way into this blogging thing. I love creating, so this just fits! I have enjoyed the process of getting everything set up and putting my ideas down on paper. Now I just have to find time to share them, right? I look forward to sharing so many things with you! My goals for this blog are to share the happenings in my classroom, behind the scenes planning and thoughts, and my products that I make for my TeachersPayTeachers store. You should also expect to come across some random posts about my life…just to keep things interesting. Ha! I’m so pumped to see where this journey will lead! I know the Lord is faithful and has given me a calling for teaching. Teaching is hard, y’all! Let’s learn and work together to be the best we can be for our 20 or so kiddos we are entrusted with each day! |
